News Story of the Day: the boom continues as the United States unemployment rate fell to a 10-year low of 4.4 percent, also a post-recession low. It looks like all of the Federal Reserve money printing, even if it had moderated in recent months, is helping the Obama and Trump administrations.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) found that 211,000 jobs were created in April. The biggest gains were found in the industries of leisure and hospitality, healthcare and social assistance, and business and professional services.
The employment-to-population ratio jumped to 60.2 percent, an eight-year high.
Chart of the Day: just last week, we learned that ESPN is letting go about 1,000 on-air staff and personalities because of declining viewership and revenues. But this is perhaps part of a greater trend: viewers cord-cutting because they’re sick and tired of propaganda on their television sets, even when they watch something as simple as sports. Here is a chart that will likely scare cable TV providers and networks:
Illustration of the Day: one of the most despicable organizations in America today is ANTIFA. They claim to fight fascism, but they are the real fascists of today, as this meme tells us:
Quote of the Day: over at Liberty Nation, there is a great story about how North Korea is starting to open up markets, which may perhaps lead to an economic miracle. In the piece, there is an excellent quote from legendary free market economist Milton Friedman:
So that the record of history is absolutely crystal clear. That there is no alternative way, so far discovered, of improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activities that are unleashed by a free enterprise system.
Tweet of the Day: in today’s media landscape, journalists do not exist. Whether it’s an anchor or a newspaper reporter, they are nothing more than political activists, and this has never been more apparent than since Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the presidency. Independent journalist Tim Pool sent out a great tweet:
I am formally requesting that media organizations stop hiring political activists and start hiring more journalists.

Video of the Day: what is interesting with the pro-refugee crowd is that they want other poor neighborhoods of the country to accept Muslim migrants but they would never take them into their own home. This is true in Canada, the United States and, as the video below suggests, France. Here is a funny clip:
Pro-migrant French welcome more refugees! But when asked to house one, their enthusiasm suddenly disappears. https://t.co/GQMwUZZOAp pic.twitter.com/DHH4R6hyPK
