Despite his disastrous economic policies, an aggressive foreign policy and a violation of civil liberties – essentially a continuation of his predecessor – TIME magazine has named President Barack Obama the “Person of the Year” for 2012.
It should be no surprise, however, that the president has been named “Person of the Year” again in a time of the collapse of the United States economy. Infamous figures in our history have also been given the same distinction. So it shouldn’t even be an honor anymore.
Here are some of the people the president is keeping company with:
– President Franklin D. Roosevelt
– Chancellor Adolf Hitler
– Commissar Joseph Stalin
– President Richard Nixon
– Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich
– Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke
“We are in the midst of historic cultural and demographic changes, and Obama is both the symbol and in some ways the architect of this new America,” wrote managing editor Rick Stengel.
