World-renowned Objectivist philosopher Ayn Rand speaks in this in-depth interview about how we now live in the “age of envy.” Decades later, it appears the world still lives in it with the Occupy movement, tax-the-rich sentiment and getting something for nothing.
It may have been in Milton Friedman’s “Free to Choose” book, but Rand’s comments are akin to when Friedman (I may be wrong when it comes to the author) compares two families: a father and son see a man in a Rolls Royce and the father says to the son that they will have something like that one day due to hard work. Meanwhile, the other father and son duo purports how unfair it is that the man has a vehicle like that and the government must act to take it away from him and give it to others.
The clip is short, but it’s still rather interesting.
John Donohue says
As usual, she makes a brilliant illumination: people attacking her as “daft” don’t believe it; they want others listening to their vitriolic screeds to believe it.
