Democratic Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu called for more revenue for the federal government during a Capitol Hill hearing. However, the hypocrisy may seem to negate her argument because she has not paid $1,206.95 in tax penalties owed to the District of Columbia government.
According to the District of Columbia’s Real Property Assessment Database, Landrieu and her husband were given a $1,003.33 tax bill plus $202.62 in interest for 2012 taxes on her mansion on East Capitol Street. No reason was given for the tax receipt.
“We have to bring in more revenue,” the Louisiana Senator said last week during a hearing on debt reduction and the federal budget.
