Walter Block, a famed Austrian economist and author of “Defending the Undefendable,” appeared on CNBC to discuss the concept of privatizing roads, an argument he has been in favor of for quite a while.
Although it would suffice to say that many American motorists oppose such an initiative because they fear it’ll lead to higher costs, Block presented the case that it’ll be the opposite considering how government costs are usually two to five times higher than initially projected.
It’s surprising that the business network would have someone like Block, who has been consistent in his beliefs and is in favor of such an idea. It must have had CNBC executives and anchors spinning their heads and yelling afterwards, “What? If government is not there how are we going to have roads?”
