There is a mix of both adulation and mourning in Scotland, England and in other parts of the globe Friday as Scotland voted 55 percent in favor of maintaining its union with the United Kingdom. Rather than secede from Great Britain and become its independent country, it will still have to be under the rule of the British.
With that being said, in either result, Queen Elizabeth would have still been Head of State in Scotland as she is for other sovereign states, including Australia, Canada and New Zealand
This means Scottish taxpayers would still have to fork over their hard earned money to the queen, particularly for her multi-million-dollar Balmoral Estate.
Right now, the Royal Family costs every taxpayer just under a buck a year to maintain their lavish lifestyle, which includes property maintenance, travel, hospitalities, utilities and payroll costs – these figures grew last year.
