Well, that was a short reprieve for millions of motorists in Canada and the United States.
After hitting multi-year lows over the past few months, it seems gas prices are ascending again this month, says a new report from the American Automobile Association (AAA). However, the positive for consumers from this story is that the increases will be slight and maybe temporary.
For the last seven straight days, average gas prices all over the country have risen, which is reversing the 100-plus-day trend of significant declines. The rising fuel prices is due to refinery matters and stabilizing crude oil costs.
The AAA projects that drivers should expect gas prices to jump between 30 and 50 cents per gallon from February to early spring. This is quite higher than the 22-cent seasonal boost observed over the past five years.
