Former Texas Republican Congressman and three-time presidential candidate Ron Paul has never been one to kiss up to certain people, lie to the general public or flip-flop on any of the issues. He’s honest and straight. Perhaps this is why he never garnered the support of the establishment in 2012.
Now that Donald Trump has tossed his hat into the Republican nomination race, let’s take a look back at the minor beef the billionaire had with Ron Paul. During a CPAC speech, he claimed Dr. Paul was unelectable, which drew the ire of many of Paul’s supporters. This led to the media fanning the flames between the two men.
Of all the videos, though, this one stood out. In 2012, Paul was asked about Trump and why he never kissed his ring. Paul responded that why should he? Trump is the opposite of Paul in the sense that he doesn’t support free markets, he likes the Federal Reserve and he doesn’t believe in free trade. Indeed, Trump got to where he is today by filing for bankruptcy four times and keeping all of the money he earned on business deals.
