The Obama administration has unveiled healthcare premiums for next year. Although the media are reporting that the number of Americans uninsured is nine percent, there are other findings that should worry the average American, particularly if you don’t want to take part in Obamacare.
Here are a few excerpts from a CNBC article:
Expect your rates to go up during the new sign-up season:
Rates are going up in many parts of the country as a new sign-up season starts Nov. 1. But people have options if they shop around, and an upgraded government website will help them compare costs and benefits.
And this:
Independent experts are forecasting bigger premium increases in 2016 than last year, averaging from the high single digits to the teens. Next week the government will release a master file that researchers use to piece together national trends.
Your penalty if you don’t sign up for Obamacare will cost as much as your monthly grocery bill:
The fine will rise to the greater of either $695 or 2.5 percent of taxable income. That’s for someone without coverage for a full 12 months. This year the comparable numbers are $325 or 2 percent of income, whichever is greater.
This is just the beginning. As more and more elements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) coming to light (remember, Congress has to pass it to find what’s in it), there could be even more damage to your wallet and medical freedom in the future.
