News Story of the Day: Despite calls from public officials from all stripes and studies suggesting the populace wants the federal government to slowdown on letting in 25,000 refugees by Dec. 31, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau moving ahead with his campaign pledge. And it’s going to cost the Canadian taxpayers a lot of money.
According to a document obtained by The Canadian Press entitled “Responding to the Syrian Refugee Crisis: Rapid Resettlement of 25,000 Syrians Funding Table,” the Liberal government’s plan to bring in 25,000 refugees will come with a $1.2 billion price-tag for a six-year period. However, the government will need just under $880 million for the first year alone.
The specifics of the costs and the overall plan remain unclear. Considering that it’s a government estimated figure, the cost will likely triple, especially if you take into account housing, education, healthcare and welfare benefits. Trudeau is in way over his head, or as the media would like to say “his pretty little head.”
Chart of the Day: The American Enterprise published a new chart, using data from the American Farm Bureau, which looks at the time cost of a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people at the hourly average wage from 1986 to 2015. In the late-1980s, it took about 3.5 hours, but today that number has dropped to under 2.5.
Illustration of the Day: Chicago Mayor and former Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel famously said that you never let a crisis go to waste. Well, this is exactly what everyone is doing: politicians, governments, media, NGOs and so on. InfoWars summed it up perfectly with this illustration:
Quote of the Day: The latest rounds of terrorist attacks has everyone demanding ISIS to be stopped and this has prompted governments to ramp up their attacks and continue the status quo of intervention. It’s the intervention itself that is the root cause of this growing terrorist threat. Taliban was an ally then it’s an enemy, al-Qaeda was the enemy and now the ally and soon ISIS will become an ally.
Ron Paul delivered a superb quote in his latest Liberty Report:
“Nobody ever wants to ask what about three million people since the year 2001 have died because of the consequences of our foreign policy and our messing around and undermining the governments in the Middle East.”
Video of the Day: Yes, ISIS is a group that was armed and funded by the United States and Western governments. Russia Today outlines this in a brief three-minute video from last year. It isn’t just a conspiracy theory, but documented very well by media outlets and admitted to by high-level government officials.
