The chance of being killed in a terrorist attack are one in 20 million. Think about that: one in 20 million. Considering the way everyone is acting and the way the government is responding, a New Yorker, a Parisian or a Torontonian was being killed everyday by terrorists.
Ever since the horrific attack in Paris a couple of weeks ago, the world has been on alert. Every sound, movement or word is sending everyone into an unjustified panic. Due to this irrational behavior, governments are pouncing on this and taking advantage of this crisis by imposing measures that enhance the police state.
We’re a funny species. We’re more likely to be killed by cross the street than a terrorist attack. Yet, people jay walk all the time. Perhaps it’s time for the state to establish a war on jay walking soon to protect us from those who avoid using a crosswalk! Won’t somebody please think of the children?
In order to put things into perspective, it’s imperative to look at things that are more likely to kill you than terrorism? Did you know you’re 55 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than a terrorist from Taliban, al-Qaeda or ISIS? Interesting.
So here are 10 things more likely to kill you than terrorism (let’s compare this to the 130 dead in France for the sake of simplicity):
– Falling: 15,000 lives are lost every year by accidental falls.
– Dying in a car crash: 43,000 deaths occur every year on the highways.
– Taking part in BDSM: 1,000 men die every year from BDSM.
– Dying in a burning building: 3,700 people die every year in fires.
– Being stung by a bee: around 700 people die each year because of a bee sting.
– Passing away from obesity: 600,000 people pass away each year because of obesity.
– Dying from medical malpractice: 500 people die every year because something went wrong during surgery.
– Dying from heart disease and cancer: 35,079 times more likely to die from heart disease and 33,842 times more likely to die from cancer than terrorism.
– Being hit by a car as a pedestrian: more than 4,000 pedestrians are killed each year by cars.
– Death from electrocution: 400 people die every year.

Still trying to conjure a point from meaninglessly irrelevant applied math that doesn’t really tell anything of value except confirming just how mindlessly unproductive with venerate verbage you really are?

Proof: What’s the missing significant relevant terrorism factor calculation variable missing in the article that seeks to make some point? All the above statistical data refers to accidents, not the scope mentally of terrorism. Not really a good comparison for many reasons. Have to stay focused or the math eans virtually nothing of value. N’est pas???

I would really like to know where you get the figures about sadomasochism and death. If you do not have credible sources I would appreciate it if you removed the factoid.
