Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul pretty much shunned his father at the start of the presidential campaign. He tried to separate himself from Ron Paul and cozy up with the establishment GOP, especially with Mitch McConnell. Paul declared that he wanted to be his own man, and now that he’s losing the race (and likely the Kentucky race as well), he now wants to embrace his father.
The senator, who has seemed to try to merge statism with libertarianism, was (surprisingly) asked about this during Thursday night’s Fox News debate.
