In order to afford a median-priced home in some of the major cities in the United States, the average American will need to earn more than $51,000 per year.
Mortgage information website HSH.com released a new study that listed what you would need to earn to afford the principal, interest, taxes and insurance payments on a median-priced home in the country.
San Francisco residents needed to make the most money: just under $148,000. Pittsburgh residents needed to earn the least with just $31,135. Surprisingly, New York residents needed to have a salary of around $86,000 to afford a median-priced home in their area.
