Is the United States a racist country? Are minorities victims? Are the various ethnic groups that enter the U.S. impecunious victims of discrimination? Are they being held back? If you ask the average person on the street many of them will answer “yes” to those questions. But the data suggest something completely different.
Here is a chart using U.S. Census Bureau data that takes a look at the median household incomes for various ethnic groups:
No surprise: Asian-Americans do very well because of their hard work and strong acumen. If this is a result of “positive discrimination” then so be it. It’s the cold hard facts. Here are a few stereotypes to be offended by: whites are lazy, East Asians are super smart, Portuguese are hard working, South Asians are ambitious.

Statistics do not show the complete story. Many of these households have several generations living in the same home with multiple income streams. Also, because of the family structure, education is the number one priority and many in the family sacrifice so the kids can go to College. I do not care everyone listed is an American and many own businesses that generate good paying jobs and provide needed services.
