Interesting. A portion of your taxpayer dollars will go towards studying the “recent history of French lesbian activism.” Huh? Yep. If you ever wonder where your money goes to then this is a part of it.
According to The Washington Free Beacon, the National Endowment for the Humanities announced the recipients of the more than $21 million worth of federally-funded grants. University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign history and women’s studies professor Tamara Chaplin will receive a part of it for the summer.
What will Chaplin study? Gallic tomboy agitators. The study, called “Postwar French Media and the Struggle for Gay Rights, will look at “the history of French lesbian activism since World War II.”
Chaplin will receive $6,000 to study the matter this summer. This is in addition to her near $87,000 annual salary.
The Daily Caller notes that Chaplin specializes in such areas as gender and sexuality, queer studies and feminist theory. These are all areas that will greatly benefit the economy and help people find jobs in the future (sarcasm).
If companies are wondering if they should increase their automation process even more than they’re doing today then one look at what colleges teach may be the answer they’re looking for.
