News Story of the Day: Once prominent solar firm SunEdison Inc has officially filed for bankruptcy. After reports of the insolvency being imminent, the company finally filed for bankruptcy protection Thursday. SunEdison, which used to have a value of $10 billion, lost much of its worth over questionable acquisitions, growing debt levels, legal woes and a collapsing stock. The firm’s shares collapsed by as much 99 percent in the last 12 months. There were some rumors this month that the company could be saved, but nothing could provide a respite to its downfall.
