In response to inevitable increases to the minimum wage – many jurisdictions have already passed the $15 minimum demands from unions and anti-poverty activists, businesses are automating their services. Many of the fast-food joints, like McDonald’s and Wendy’s, are looking to phase out their front-line workers in favor of automation (SEE: Thanks Minimum Wage: McDonald’s testing self-serve kiosk in downtown Chicago) to save on labor costs.
In an interview with Fox’s Neil Cavuto last month, one proponent of the $15 minimum wage said that she wasn’t concerned about being replaced by robots. She noted that McDonald’s has been around for a long time and that the corporation needs people like her. She pretty much dismissed Cavuto’s allusions to the automation efforts. Ultimately, the lady had a difficult time defending her position.

Of course, here is the meme that is floating around the Internet:

The lady was great defending her position, what’s wrong with you insulting her. She’s right, if it was possible to automize it’s operations, Mcdonalds wouldn’t hesitate a second to shot down all it’s restaurants around the world

Cavuto and the mainstream media are bought by the corporations that buy ads. They are going to push the job lose story until hell freezes over. How about FOX lowering their ad prices, then McD’s will have more to pay their workers.
I do not and will not use self checkout or KIOSK ordering to put someone out of a job. Any company that does this will not get my business. Record corporate profits, record low wages.
