Somebody or something is trying to gain access to important documents at the Federal Reserve.
According to disclosed records from the United States central bank, the Fed experienced more than 50 cyber breaches between 2011 and 2015. Many officials at the central bank believe those responsible are spies or hackers. In any event, some of the incidents are considered by staffers to be acts of “espionage.”
The Fed’s computer systems hold a lot of imperative and valuable information in regards to global banking and confidential meetings about monetary policy.
Reuters, which obtained the data through a Freedom of Information Act request, says that much of the cybersecurity reports were redacted. The Fed did not comment on the security infiltration and attempted data breaches.
One person did reveal that cyber attacks on the Fed are as common as what other financial institutions experience.
