Today is the 215th anniversary of the birth of Frederic Bastiat. Born June 30, 1801, Bastiat was the one of the greatest classical liberal economists coming from France.
He brilliantly came up with the Broken Window Fallacy, penned the hilarious satire “The Candlemaker’s Petition” and proposed to the King of France that he “forbid all loyal subjects to use their right hands.”
Prior to his death, Bastiat told a friend: “Treat all economic questions from the viewpoint of the consumer, for the interests of the consumer are the interests of the human race.”
