News Story of the Day: The Wikileaks dump of DNC emails this past week have provided some interesting insight into the political process and the mainstream media (SEE: Media Collusion & Rewarding Big Donors: 5 of the biggest findings from DNC emails leak). Although the media have concentrated their efforts on the DNC sabotaging the Bernie Sanders campaign, the emails showed a lot more, such as giving big donors federal positions and DNC officials colluding with CNN.
Since the media collusion has generated some buzz from people on social media, one CNN anchor decided to respond.
Reporter Jake Tapper, who was offered questions by one DNC official during one interview with a politician, disputed the emails, claiming he never heard of the person.
This email is also getting some pickup on social media because some staffer at the DNC whom I have never even heard of has an internal email in this Wikieak doc about “offering us questions” for us to ask Luis. That’s an idiotic characterization. I have never been given questions to ask any politician and I never will.
Chart of the Day: gold and silver have been dominating business headlines since the Brexit aftermath. But, as this new chart from Bloomberg suggests below, there is one precious metal that is surging ahead of gold and silver: palladium. In the post-Brexit marketplace, palladium has soared 20 percent.
Illustration of the Day: Democratic voters at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) shouted “no more war” at former CIA director Leon Panetta during his speech. However, they have supported a warmonger in President Barack Obama and will support a warmonger in Hillary Clinton. That’s hilarious. It seems people in both parties don’t know what they want anymore.
Quote of the Day: here is free market economist Milton Friedman on the costs of conscription:
The argument that a volunteer army would cost more simply involves a confusion of apparent with real cost. By this argument, the construction of the Great Pyramid with slave labor was a cheap project. The real cost of conscripting a soldier who would not voluntarily serve on present terms is not his pay and the cost of his keep: it is the amount for which he would be willing to serve. He is paying the difference. This is the extra cost to him and must be added to the cost borne by the rest of us.
Video of the Day: if you want to see a blatant propaganda piece in the mainstream media then you will need to watch this NBC News clip of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) email leaks. As soon as the emails leaked, the MSM started making a Donald Trump-Vladimir Putin connection for whatever reason. This clip would make Joseph Goebbels proud.
