The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) has been one of the main issues in the 2016 presidential election cycle. President Obama is absolutely in favor of TPP. Donald Trump is against the TPP, Mike Pence supports it, Hillary Clinton continues to flip flop on the crony globalist deal and Tim Kaine also recently flip flopped on the TPP.
Essentially, the TPP is one of those backroom globalism deals that only benefit key insiders, like big business and organized labor. It’s not free trade at all. It’s crony managed trade.
Former Texas Republican Congressman and three-time presidential candidate Ron Paul explained why TPP is bad for Americans in a recent interview with the Fox Business Network (FBN).
Here are a few highlights from Dr. Paul, who has been against TPP since it was first announced:
- TPP doesn’t create more free trade, but rather creates more managed trade.
- Managed trade does not help the consumer. Instead it benefits big business, organized labor and politicians.
- He would not vote for TPP if he were still in Congress.
- You don’t need global government to protect the environment.
- The current big government, two-party system will inevitably fail.
- Young people will respond to freedom, even if they’re promised everything for free.
