During the 2008 and 2012 United States presidential elections, media analysts and journalists were up in arms when then-presidential candidate Ron Paul said that he didn’t dream of becoming president and he didn’t stay up late at night wanting to control the American people. All of the pundits were flabbergasted by this admission, arguing that he wouldn’t be fit to be president.
Well, 2016 Republican nominee Donald Trump is pretty much conceding the same point.
Speaking in an interview with CNBC, Trump stated that he would be fine if he lost the general election in November because he would return to what he was doing before: making money.
“I’m a truth teller. And if at the end of 90 days I’ve fallen short because I’m somewhat politically correct, even though I’m supposed to be the smart one and even though I’m supposed to have a lot of good ideas, it’s OK. You know, I go back to a very good way of life.”
He added: “It’s not what I’m looking to do. I think we’re gonna have a victory, but we’ll see.”
Trump is a terrible candidate for president, but this is something that should be respected. It’s the likes of Hillary Clinton that need to sit on the White House throne, that need to think of ways to make Americans’ lives miserable. If Clinton should lose in November, she would be devastated because she wouldn’t be able to control you. For Trump, when he loses, he goes back to his beautiful wife, his billion-dollar business and his private jet.
