If Donald Trump had his way, he would not have Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson or Green Party nominee Jill Stein in the three presidential debates this fall.
Speaking in an interview with the Washington Post this week, the Republican nominee said he was against having either of the contenders enter the debates because he wants to have a one-on-one debate with Hillary Clinton.
Here is what Trump told the newspaper:
“No because they’re not getting any . . . I’d rather have head to head and right now they’re not getting any numbers. She’s doing better than he is, but right now in some polls she’s actually not doing badly.”
The Commission on Presidential Debates states that you have to have a minimum of 15 percent in the polls to participate. It was reported that the organization did urge the hosts to have a third podium just in case Johnson makes. The Commission also noted that it would be open to a little bit of wiggling room should Johnson poll at just under 15 percent (SEE: Commission says Gary Johnson could be in the U.S. presidential debates).
According to Real Clear Politics, all of the polls this month show Johnson garnering between seven and 11 percent. Stein, meanwhile, has received between two and five percent support.
The first U.S. presidential debate will take place in New York on September 26.

The fact that he says Stein is doing better than Johnson in polls shows the ignorance he has become famous for. Of course he wants a head to head with Hillary. If anyone other than the two liars and crooks were on stage he’d be forced to actually defend his positions, talk about issues, etc. rather than just call Hillary names and point out that she’s as a big a liar and con artist as him.
