WikiLeaks has recently dumped parts 10 and 11 of the Hillary Clinton campaign emails. Let’s get into some of the more juicy finds, shall we?
Here are five more takeaways from the WikiLeaks email dump:
Hillary Clinton Campaign Took Foreign Donations
An email chain that went on for five days revealed that Hillary Clinton’s campaign accepted donations from foreign lobbyists. Even when the Clinton Foundation confirmed that it would limit foreign contributions.
According to personal emails from the Clinton campaign, Jennifer Palmieri, Podesta, Dennis Cheng and others talked about how to accept money raised by lobbyists of foreign interests outside of the United States. They debated as to whether or not to take donations from those who have registered under the Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA).
“We really need make a policy decision on this soon – whether we are allowing those lobbying on behalf of foreign governments to raise $ for the campaign. Or case by case,” Cheng wrote one day after Clinton announced her bid for the White House.
Marc Elias, Clinton’s campaign general counsel, wrote:
“This is really a straight up political call. One middle option is to take case by case. If, for example, they are FARA registered for Canada, we may not case. If for N. Korea we would.”
“I’m ok just taking the money and dealing with any attacks. Are you guys ok with that?” Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook wrote.
“Take the money!!” Palmieri responded to the group.
Bernie Sanders is a ‘Doofus’?
Wow! The Hillary Clinton campaign really didn’t like Bernie Sanders, huh? After stealing the Democratic primaries from Sanders, the Clinton campaign people have called Sanders and his supporters all sorts of names. The latest one is that Sanders is a “doofus,” according to Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta.
In an exchange in 2015 with Center for American Progress CEO Neera Tanden regarding the Paris Climate Agreement, Podesta wrote:
“Can you believe that doofus Bernie attacked it?”
Is Sanders starting to regret his endorsement of Clinton yet? Well, probably not, considering he has a new book coming out and he just bought a new house.
Mark Zuckerberg Wants to Get Into Politics
It’s time to let the cronyism expand even more!
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s right-hand man, Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg, contacted Podesta, inquiring about how he could get into politics. Sandberg wrote that Zuckerberg is “hungry to learn.” She added that “he wants to meet folks who can inform his understanding about effective political operations to advance public policy goals on social oriented objectives.”
Podesta replied: “Happy to do.”
Obama’s ‘List of Women’
This is really rich. Do you remember in 2012 when it was reported that Mitt Romney was given a “binder full of women” in order to diversify his cabinet when he was governor of Massachusetts? He was chastized for this by Obama, the press and Democrats. But it turns out that President Obama did the exact same thing in 2008, according to emails leaked by WikiLeaks.
An October 2008 email found that Mike Froman, Citibank executive and Obama transition team member, gave Obama a “list of women” to choose from for “Cabinet/Deputy and other senior level positions.” Froman also attached a “diversity” list of African Americans, Asian Americans, Latinos, Native Americans, Arab/Muslim American and Disabled Americans.
Both of these lists had hundreds of names, including Hillary Clinton.
Here is the email:
Was There a Sexual Harassment Coverup?
Robby Mook, Clinton campaign manager, was apparently accused of ignoring a sexual harassment claims in order to cover for a friend.
Here is what PostMedia reports:
According to a conversation in one email, a woman reportedly complained that Marlon Marshall, a Clinton staffer, would “corner women, make them uncomfortable and make suggestions about having sex.” The source cited in the email also claims “that Robby Mook was made aware of the issue, but declined to act on it or intervene because he is personal friends with Marshall.”
The entire email chain can be found here.
