Election Day is just hours away, and you have likely made up your mind: Hillary Clinton is an evil robot and Donald Trump is a doofus, or as Robert Wenzel of Economic Policy Journal puts it, a neanderthal.
With millions of Americans about to cast a ballot, one reporter asked an important question that could sway the election, urge millions of voters to pause for a moment. The question may have had more of an impact on the election than Trump’s crude comments and more of an influence than Vladimir Putin.
Here is BBC’s Kim Ghattas’s question, courtesy of the Daily Caller:
“It seems to me that over time, you’ve been often ahead of your time. You’ve been sometimes misunderstood. You have encountered a lot of prejudice. Do you think that today America understands you and is ready to accept you?”
Heroically and without any hesitation, the former Secretary of State responded:
“Well, I think I have some work to do to bring the country together. As I have been saying in these speeches in the last few days, I really do want to be the president for everybody, people who vote for me, people who vote against me, because I think that these splits, these divides that have been not only exposed but exacerbated by the campaign on the other side are ones that we really do have to bring the country together.”
As she gasped for air, with sweat dripping from her brow, the reporter, her mind clickety click click, put forward one last question that may have changed the course of history:
“Can you do that?”
Giving off an air of radiance and an overflowing stream of confidence, Clinton answered the follow-up:
“Yes, absolutely.”
There you have it, folks: the state of the media in 2016!
