Rudy Giuliani, John Bolton, Chris Christie, Michael Flynn and now Mitt Romney? The names being floated around to serve in a Donald Trump administration are certainly likely to irk a large chunk of the real estate billionaire mogul’s base.
New reports are surfacing that the former Massachusetts Republican Governor is scheduled to meet with Trump this weekend to discuss a “potential role” in his administration and to discuss “governing moving forward.”
As CNN reported on Thursday:
“The meeting is the latest in a series of Trump’s conversations and encounters with Republicans who did not support his candidacy in an effort to reunite the GOP following a divisive election that fractured party leaders past the Republican primary and into the general election.”
Many are speculating what role Romney would serve. Some are pointing to Secretary of State or Secretary of the Treasury, while others are hinting at an Ambassadorship position. Meanwhile, there are suggestions that perhaps Trump just wants to humiliate the two-time presidential candidate one more time.
Remember, Romney has called Trump a “con man,” a “fraud” and a “phony,” and that a Trump White House would lead to “trickle-down racism.”
The meeting comes as there have been reports that Trump is considering appointing Ronna Romney McDaniel, Romney’s niece, to run the Republican National Committee.
Yep, it’s starting to look more of the same in Washington.
