News Story of the Day: Pay attention all of you peasants: Buckingham Palace, the home of blood-sucking leech Queen Elizabeth II, is receiving a $458 million, 10-year refurbishment.
The British government supported the funds to replace the building’s wiring and piping system, which are more than six decades old. The exterior and overall design will remain the same, and the queen will reside in the palace throughout the refurb.
Work is scheduled to begin April 2017. Parliament is expected to approve the project in March.
Not only will the royals get their palace refurbished on the taxpayer’s dime, they already receive more than $50 million per year for their duties, travels and residence.
The idea of spending $4.3 billion in order to renovate the entire complex is also being discussed.
Chart of the Day: as the Federal Reserve prepares to raise interest rates for the first time since December 2015 at next month’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, CNBC has released an interesting chart that looks at rates in the United States over the last 200 years. The average rate has been just over five percent. Here is the chart:
Illustration of the Day: it has been more than a week now since Donald Trump pulled off an upset victory. Since the mainstream media had forecast a Hillary Clinton win, many outlets and pundits predicted severe backlash, upheaval and violence from Trump’s supporters. What’s fascinating is that it has been quite the opposite: Clinton’s base, millennials and liberals are the ones wreaking havoc on the streets of the United States. Here is what one magazine false prognosticated on its front cover because it has been Hillary voters yelling and holding pitchforks.

Quote of the Day: H.L. Mencken was a wise man and was way ahead of his time. His social commentary was sublime and is something that all people, left or right, Republican or Democrat, should remember. Here is just one quote that both Donald Trump’s supporters and opponents should think about:
“The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out… without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable.”
Video of the Day: the mainstream media are pressuring Google and Facebook to tackle the issue of websites publishing and promoting so-called fake news. Well, there is now a fake news list being circulated that was created by an extreme leftist professor. The list has been taken down, but some of the sources include Zero Hedge, Breitbart, LewRockwell.com and Infowars. What’s interesting is the fact that, as this past election cycle has proven, the mainstream media are the champions of fake news. Here is Paul Joseph Watson providing his commentary on the matter:
