For years, even before Donald Trump became a four-year occupant of the White House, many people, both on the left and right, complained about how most of the products we buy are made in China. They argued, at least before Trump made it a campaign issue, that something needs to be done about this because jobs are being lost and factories are closing down.
The question that has arisen in recent years is this: should we stop buying Made in China goods? The answer is this: you’re “Dead Wrong,” says Johan Norberg.
Here is Norberg briefly explaining why we should continue to buy goods made in China:
JRATT says
What is your real carbon footprint with shipping all these goods all over the world? Buy from China, sure electronics are cheaper. But I purchased a pizza pan made in the USA for $4.
The Farberware pizza pan made in China cost $8 and was not even close to being as good. No one is saying to stop buying from other countries, but we do not have to buy almost everything from them. We need to be smart about what we are doing with our manufacturing workforce, because those jobs are good paying jobs, we cannot afford to lose anymore of them.
