Some will say that the Libertarian Party has become out of touch with libertarians across the United States, while others will say that the Ron Paul Revolution is still continuing, and the former Texas Republican Congressman didn’t even run for president this year.
It was reported that Ron Paul earned more electoral college votes than Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson.
Despite generating nearly 4.5 million votes, or a little more than three percent of the total national vote, the former New Mexico Republican Governor was unable to garner a single electoral vote.
Ron Paul, on the other hand, who refrained from throwing his name in a bid for the White House for the fourth time, received one electoral vote.
Donald Trump, meanwhile, finished with a total of 304 electoral votes.
Throughout the 2016 election, Dr. Paul refused to endorse Johnson for president. In fact, it seemed that the bestselling author of “The Revolution: A Manifesto” and “End the Fed” supported Green Party candidate Jill Stein more, citing her positions on foreign policy (SEE: Ron Paul will NOT be voting for Gary Johnson next week). Paul was also highly critical of Donald Trump.
Johnson was repeatedly criticized during the campaign for lacking many of the core libertarian principles, flip flopping on key issues and having Bill Weld as his running mate. Critics argued that he attempted to appeal to the libertarian-lite and Republican-lite crowds rather than maintaining the ideas of libertarianism (SEE: Libertarians for Gary Johnson? 5 reasons libertarians can’t support Johnson).
As Jeff Deist of the Mises Institute opined prior to the election, the Libertarian Party should simply concentrate its efforts on local and state elections, contests that the organization has a better chance of winning. As long as the Republicans and Democrats maintain a strangle hold at the federal level, no other third party will come close to dismantling the two-party system.

Why does this even deem a column ? Have you gone mad ? Johnson, by the way , is not a libertarian. Rand getting one electoral vote means nothing. There is no revolution. I have no idea who you are, or how old you are but based on your continued columns that have nothing to do with economics.I have come to the conclusion you are an idiot. And, mind you I am being kind. Why don’t you try your hand at children’s books. Give it a go.
