Well, we certainly know which political party unions and government employees support.
To no one’s shock whatsoever, a new report has found that Democratic politicians received more donations from federal civil servants and government employee unions than Republicans. Again, no one will be surprised by this.
New data from the Center for Responsive Politics (via Fed Smith) found that approximately 82 percent of the $4.3 million in donations from nine major federal unions went to Democratic politicians, both incumbents and candidates.
Moreover, Democrats received 82 percent of 6.6 million in contributions from congressional and senate staff and employees at 11 federal agencies.
Which unions gave most of their contributions to Democrats? The National Treasury Employees Unions (96 percent), the National Association of Postal Supervisors (93 percent) and The American Federation of Government employees (92 percent).
When it came to departments, nearly 100 percent of contributing Department of Labor staff donated to Democrats. Ditto for the Departments of Energy, Education, State, Justice and Health and Human Services, which 90 percent of contributing officials donated to Democrats.
The Department of Defense gave the least Democrats with just 35 percent.
