French President Francois Hollande is not running for re-election. Knowing that he doesn’t have the numbers to garner a second victory, he confirmed that he won’t be running a second time (but who is going to pay for his expensive haircuts?).
But that doesn’t mean socialism is coming to an end in France.
According to reports, Benoit Hamon, a former Education Minister, is leading the field of left-wing primary candidates, and former Industry Minister Arnaud Montebourg thinks this suggests that socialist voters want even more leftist policies.
Translations of his platform show a number of befuddling policies that only socialists would endorse.
Here are some of them:
– A tax on robots.
– Higher taxes on the wealthy.
– A 32-hour work week.
– Universal basic income.
– Allowing foreigners to vote in local elections.
– Reconsidering the white vote; if a majority of the vote comes from whites then the election has to be postponed.
– Listing career burn-out as an occupational disease.
Considering that a lot of Europeans are becoming fed up by mass migration and that a lot of white people are sick and tired of being attacked because of their skin color, some of Hamon’s policies won’t be supported..
It remains to be seen if national voters have the appetite for these kinds of policies. Marine Le Pen has been gaining the momentum, and the headlines, so a debate between her and Hamon should be interesting, especially considering that Le Pen has many left-wing policies, like raising government pay.
And when you have a picture taken with Bernie Sanders then you know something is seriously wrong.
