News Story of the Day: hyper neoconservative Bill Kristol thinks white people are lazy and should be replaced by immigrants.
Kristol, who has been mostly wrong on about every major topic over the years, told author Charles Murray during a videotaped event that perhaps it is time to get immigrants to replace the white working class.
Here is the entire quote:
“Look, to be totally honest, if things are so bad as you say with the white, working class, don’t you want to get new Americans in?” he said.
“Basically if you are in free society, a capitalist society, after two, three, four generations of hard work, everyone becomes kind of decadent, lazy, spoiled, whatever. Then, luckily, you have these waves of people coming in from Italy, Ireland, Russia, and now Mexico, who really want to work hard and really want to succeed, and really want their kids to live better lives than them, and aren’t sort of clipping coupons or hoping that they can hang on and, meanwhile, grew up as spoiled kids and so forth. In that respect, I don’t know why this moment is that different from the early 20th century.”
This angered a lot of people, particularly who are Donald Trump supporters.
Chart of the Day: the conservative joke is that there is nothing more permanent than a government program. Well, there is another one to add to that: there is nothing more permanent than a government program and a sitting congressman. Since 1964, the re-election rate has been in the 90s – the lowest re-election rate was in 1970 and 2010 when it hit 85 percent. For the most part, if you’re a congressman, you’ll be re-elected. Here is the chart:
Illustration of the Day: former Secretary of State and two-time presidential candidate Hillary Clinton can’t help but constantly insert yourself in the news. In 2012, Mitt Romney quietly walked away from the political scene for a couple of years. This year, Clinton has to insert her two cents on everything, whether it’s “female is the future” or “fake news.” Well, whenever she, or her daughter, Chelsea, talks about fake news, this would serve as a great reminder:
Quote of the Day: legendary free market Thomas Sowell has been one of the best commentators of our time. Now that he is retiring, he put together a list of final thoughts, which serve as a sublime complement to his “random thoughts” in “The Thomas Sowell Reader.” Here is one of those final thoughts:
“Back when I taught at UCLA, I was constantly amazed at how little so many students knew. Finally, I could no longer restrain myself from asking a student the question that had long puzzled me: ‘What were you doing for the last twelve years before you got here?'”
Unfortunately, nothing has changed.
Video of the Day: wait Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is a white supremacist and a terrorist! Wow. Well, Trudeau, the selfie-loving liberal who spends more time outside of Canada than Michael Ignatieff, is these things, according to Black Lives Matter Toronto. Speaking at a rally last week, BLM TO broke the story that Trudeau is the first Canadian PM who is an open white supremacist and terrorist (it is truly confounding to see how the term white supremacist has changed). Here is a clip about the entire incident:
