How successful is Amazon? Well, let’s take a look at its success.
When Amazon went public in 1997, it was worth just a couple of billion dollars. In that same year, Wal-Mart was worth just under $100 billion. It took Amazon ONLY 18 years to match Wal-Mart’s market value. It then took less than two years for Amazon to double Wal-Mart’s market capitalization – the website now stands at $457 billion, compared to Wally World’s $228 billion.
Whatever you want to call it, creative destruction or market creation, Amazon is a juggernaut!
