Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, for whatever reason, delivered a commencement address.
In her speech, Clinton lambasted President Donald Trump’s supposed budget cuts as “cruel.” Obviously she is still bitter from the election of half a year ago, and the trip from the woods was long, but she obviously hasn’t crunched the numbers to realize that budget isn’t being cut.
“Look at the budget that was just proposed in Washington. It is an attack of unimaginable cruelty on the most vulnerable among us,” Clinton told a crowd at Wellesley College, an all women’s institution. “It grossly underfunds public education, mental health and even efforts to combat the opioid epidemic.”
She continued her veiled attacks against the current Republican administration:
“You are graduating a time when there is a full-fledged assault on truth and reason. Just log on to social media for 10 seconds, it will hit you right in the face,” she said.
“When people in power invent their own facts and attack those who question them, it can mark the beginning of the end of a free society. This is not hyperbole, it is what authoritarian regimes throughout history have done.”
Hell hath no fury like a woman who loses an election.
It’s unfortunate that there are still rumors that she may run for public office in 2020. But it makes sense why she is still hanging in the public eye. Heck, Mitt Romney was at least gone for about two or three years until he decided to run again in 2012.
