What the heck is going on in the minds of leftists these days? They’re offended by everything, even by the food that you eat or cook. Oy vey.
The latest craziness from the whacky left is white-owned restaurants selling food from other cultures. This is otherwise known as culinary appropriation. Ugh…
Washington Post food critic Tim Carman published an op-ed Monday entitled “Should white chefs sell burritos? A Portland food cart’s revealing controversy.” The piece takes a look at “Portland’s appropriation problem,” and essentially goes on to state that white chefs can only sell burritos if they don’t make any money.
“The problem, of course, is not that a white diner falls in love with an immigrant cuisine. It’s that a white person profits from the cuisine or, more troublesome for many, becomes the leading authority on it, rather than a chef born into the culture,” he wrote.
It’s stupid to suggest if you’re white then you can’t make sushi or sell burritos. It’s just as ludicrous to believe that you can’t eat these items, even if they’re made by white people, if you’re not of that food’s origin.
Does this logic apply to Japanese-owned restaurants who sell hamburgers? What about Italian-owned restaurants that sell sushi? Are Indian-owned establishments permitted to sell pasta? It’s becoming ridiculous.
Unfortunately, the whacky left is going to eat this up.
Social justice warriors ruin everything.

I agree; they do ruin everything. So I would also suggest that my favorite steak house isn’t allowed to have any Mexican line cooks, since they would be appropriating the food culture of Kansas. And I guess all the New York steak houses will have to close down, since all that cattle comes from Kansas City and Chicago, or even Amarillo.
This isn’t “cultural appropriation”; this is food Balkanization. And it’s all BS–Beyond Stupid.
