How many enemies does President Donald Trump really want to make? And why does he lack economic understanding?
On Wednesday morning, the president attacked Amazon in a tweet, accusing the online retail juggernaut of destroying localities and causing job losses.
Here is what he tweeted:
Amazon is doing great damage to tax paying retailers. Towns, cities and states throughout the U.S. are being hurt – many jobs being lost!

“Amazon is doing great damage to tax paying retailers. Towns, cities and states throughout the U.S. are being hurt – many jobs being lost!”
First of all, the only reason Amazon has done “great damage” to competitors is because it provides a better overall product at a cheaper price. Second, Amazon does pay taxes, and so do customers that are required by law to do so. Third, Amazon is hiring thousands of workers this year alone.
Jeff Bezos created a great website that pleases the masses. That is the beauty of the free enterprise system. If Trump wants to slam Bezos or Amazon for anything then complain about the cronyism occurring between the government and the website.
Are there still any libertarians left supporting President Trump? If so, abandon ship!
Jeffery Surratt says
Amazon prices are no better than other retailers. I have found better prices at Sam’s Club (earned $120 in rewards last year, so membership was free) , Walmart, NewEgg, Monoprice, Autozone, EBay, and others. Amazon Prime koolaid drinkers think they are saving money because they get free shipping. But they are not if they are paying higher prices. From 2007 to 2012
Amazon was the price leader, now I use them to check prices and then buy from some place else.
