Tap, swipe, scan, flick. There are many, many different ways to pay for goods and services in today’s economy, but some are still relying on the old form of physical cash.
In the eurozone, according to new data from the European Central Bank (ECB), people carry an average of €65. Germans carry the most in their wallets (€103), while the Portuguese carry the least (€29).

Cash remains king for some. And why not? It helps your transactions stay anonymous, you can participate in the black market and you can live off the grid. Yep. Cash is indeed king.
But here is a question: is the ECB getting ready to confiscate what’s left of cash in Europe?
