Guns have dominated the news cycle once again in the wake of last week’s deadly mass shooting at a Florida high school.
The CNNs and the MSNBCs of the U.S. media landscape have one objective: confiscate, restrict, prohibit firearms. Essentially, eradicate the Second Amendment. The Counterfeit News Network doesn’t even want an honest discussion, censoring questions and comments from victims who have strayed away from the media narrative.
However, for those who are leaning towards greater gun control, this may be an opportune video to view on #ThrowbackThursday.
Three-time presidential candidate Ron Paul was recorded for a 1989 video on the Second Amendment and guns. It is common sense, constitutional, and straight to the point.
Here is the clip:

Every time someone does wrong the 1st reaction is to punish those who do right. If the police/ government spent less time protecting us from ourselves they would have more time to do what they are charged constitutionally, protect us from those who do us harm. We are seen as victims, children, heartless and all power comes from government. In fact we are victors, the adults, compassionate and caring and we GIVE government power and we can take it away! Our rights are God given, the governments sole purpose is to protect us from those who seek to take those rights. As a veteran I swore to defend the constitution from all both foreign and domestic. As a teacher I serve to make this nation better by instilling respect, accountability and responsibility. That my friends is why I am running for Congress and that is why we need people who serve more than just a party. Time to do as we preach and take our nation back.

And I thought Ron Paul was a respected, intelligent politician!
The 2nd amendment was written nearly 300 years ago when the US had only just broken free of British rule and taxation. Back then there was a possibility that Britain or some other foreign power would invade or infiltrate to take control again. I can see where the 2nd Amendment was relevant back then.
But now it is being upheld as a reason for anyone to own a gun to defend him- or herself, not for the original purpose of preventing another nation or political philosophy imposing itself on America.
Every American would not need to own a gun if guns were better controlled. People being able to buy a gun in any local store or at a gun fair, is a greater threat to human life than any threat of armed invasion that has ever happened since WW2 and even back then, no civilian defence militia was ever created (as envisaged by the authors of the 2nd Amendment). That’s nearly 300 years of non-use of the designed purpose of the 2nd Amendment!
Enough already! Become civilized at last America. Make personal safety an important part of the American dream. In the process you may gain the respect of the rest of the world, where, in the area of sensible gun laws, you have become a laughing-stock.

Mike you are very foolish, if you think the police will show up in time to save you from anyone wanting to do you or your family harm. They will show up and draw a chalk outline around your body and may never even find the person that killed you.
The police stand down at the Florida school shooting and you think they are going to come to your aid when the crap hits the fan? Also, you cannot control who has guns in a free society, because black market gun sales can never be stopped. So disarming law abiding citizens while allowing the criminal class to have all the weapons their money can buy, is not the answer.

So the failure of government to protect us can be solved by giving the government more “control”? They can’t even do the most basic thing like protect us and yet the solution is to take away our ability to protect ourselves. I think you may have just proved Ron Paul point. After hurricane Harvey I didn’t see anyone from the government for 10 days. No 911 nothing but just us and potential looters who were very much deterred. You can depend on others to protect you and your children lives but just realize dependency is the opposite of independence as is slavery. Simply put you don’t trust others to have guns yet you want others with guns to protect you? Sensible that is not.
