News Story of the Day: National Rifle Association (NRA) members are law-abiding citizens and have never been the culprit behind the mass shootings. Moreover, the NRA spends roughly $3 million a year on lobbying, compared to the tens of millions of dollars that Amazon, Google, and unions spend on lobbying efforts.
The left is now waging war on the NRA and those it does business with.
On Thursday, Nebraska-based First National Bank of Omaha announced that it will not renew its NRA Visa card, while car rental company Enterprise will cease offering discounts to NRA members.
The announcements came after the progressive website ThinkProgress named them as companies that support the NRA.
Chart of the Day: when it comes to transportation, the market has spoken. Consumers don’t like taxis, and they’re OK with car rentals. But they really enjoy ride-sharing transportation companies like Uber and Lyft. In fact, according to Certify, they control 68 percent of the ground transportation market. Here is a chart courtesy of the American Enterprise Institute:

Quote of the Day: Don Boudreaux of Cafe Hayek has been really taking it to the protectionists as of late. He has published numerous posts that attack the very idea of protectionism. Here is one of his best statements:
A protectionist believes that rickshaws are a much better means of urban public transportation than are busses or subways because the number of workers required to transport any given number of passengers is much higher with rickshaws than with busses and subways. The protectionist – assuming (contrary to fact) that he or she has any capacity for consistency in thought – would lobby to prohibit busses, subways, and even taxies, bicycles, and skateboards on the grounds that these transportation options employ fewer urban-transportation workers than would be employed by a policy of using only rickshaws.
Tweet of the Day: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is embarrassing Canada once again. During his week-long trip to India, which was meant to be a trade mission and not a family vacation, he has sported ethnic garb, even more than citizens do. Trudeau has also decided use taxpayer funds to fly a celebrity chef to cook him Indian food. Wait, what? Is this a MadTV skit? Opposition Leader Andrew Scheer had an excellent response:
Justin Trudeau is failing to take these important trade missions seriously. It’s up to the Prime Minister to explain how inviting a celebrity chef to India in any way benefits Canadian businesses that want greater access to the Indian market.

Video of the Day: in the wake of last week’s deadly mass shooting at a Florida high school, the reaction has been fierce. The left wants to ban all guns, while the right wants to turn schools into maximum security prisons. Is there a middleground? Ron Paul and Daniel McAdams discuss:
