Millennials have a terrible reputation and they are probably the most despised generation today. The public generally dislikes millennials because they feel that those born between 1980 and 2000 are lazy, entitled, and overly reliant on their parents.
Back in my day…
Well, there is new data that will add fuel to the fire.
According to new study by CreditCards.com, 75 percent of parents with adult children pay some of their bills. The financial planning website discovered that a majority of parents with children over the age of 18 help with their living expenses and pay their debts.
That isn’t all. The survey also found that 39 percent pay their cellphone, 36 percent c ver their transportation, 24 percent help out with the rent, 21 percent pay their utilities, and 20 percent make monthly payments to their student loans.
Credit card debt? Nearly one-fifth (16 percent) of parents also pay their credit card bills.
Felicia DeFranco of Newburg, New York told a local CBS News affiliate that “it’s so hard for them out there in this world.”
Is it really any different from 10, 20, or 50 years ago? Not really.
There may be one thing that we have abandoned: self-responsibility. We’ve passed the buck of adulthood and now we suffer from “anxiety” anytime we are confronted with the elements of life.
