Let’s face it: most boycotts in today’s hostile environment are merely just political points. They aren’t based on principles, and many of the issues that people are boycotting over are benign and trivial.
Ostensibly, Fox News Channel’s Laura Ingraham joked that David Hogg has been “whiny” about being rejected by four California-based colleges. This sparked outrage by Hogg, leftists, and the rest of the media – nevermind what they have said about Kyle Kashuv, the NRA, or law-abiding gun owners.
Groups proceeded to target advertisers on Ingraham’s show and more than a dozen businesses caved, announcing that they will no longer be advertising on her show, despite her apology. The list consisted of Target, Hulu, Nestle, and Wayfair.
Well, a backlash may be in the works.
A campaign called #IStandwithLaura is starting, prompting scores of consumers to boycott brands who are boycotting the Ingraham Angle. Here are just a few tweets:
Damn @Wayfair I was planning to furnish my outdoor living space with your products. Not now. Why did you have to go and get so stupid? #IStandWithLaura

Moreover, as Ben Shapiro noted at The Daily Wire, CNN’s Joan Walsh participated in similar behavior as Laura Ingraham. He writes:
On Sunday, Parkland survivor Kyle Kashuv pointed out that CNN contributor Joan Walsh had been attacking him via her Twitter “likes,” liking a series of tweets that targeted him personally.
Walsh responded by insulting Kashuv, saying “Good luck handling your stress.”
Now, is this worse or better than Fox News’ Laura Ingraham stating that Parkland survivor David Hogg had been “whiny” about his college admissions — a statement for which she later apologized? It’s worth asking, since a dozen advertisers have dropped Ingraham’s show, and the Left is out for blood — they want her tossed off air over that ill-advised but mild-by-Twitter-standards slap at Hogg. At no point did Ingraham ever suggest that Hogg was handling his “stress” poorly because of his political rhetoric. If she had, there’s little question that the boycott efforts against her would have been even more extreme.
Yet Walsh has issued no apology. No one at CNN has, either.
To ensure the left follows the same standards, should they start boycotting Geico, Progressive, BMW, and AT&T?
Boycotts are primarily useless endeavors. Most businesses are typically walking on eggshells in present-day conditions. There are many brands who will hold progressive values, while other brands will adopt more conservative positions. Many companies are scolded because they remain silent on an issue! But a majority of companies are neutral, otherwise they may alienate half of their audience.
Besides, does it really matter what a company’s position is? What if the local Chinese dry cleaner loves Mao but delivers an excellent service? Is it time to boycott his company because he holds an opinion different from yours?
Of course, in a victimhood, whiny, and immature culture, we all must virtue-signal.
Grab the popcorn.

If that wimp David Hogg did not want the details of his failures getting into college to become an issue, then he shouldn’t have opened his fool mouth.
I stand with Laura.
