News Story of the Day: President Donald Trump is tweeting again, and this time he is targeting the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
With the price of crude oil nearing $70 per barrel, Trump is unhappy about it, blaming OPEC for the sudden jump. He wrote:
“Looks like OPEC is at it again. With record amounts of Oil all over the place, including the fully loaded ships at sea, Oil prices are artificially Very High! No good and will not be accepted!”
A few things, American oil firms are benefiting from the rising crude prices, which is why it’s referred to as Saudi America. OPEC is slowly becoming an irrelevant cartel because of the shale revolution. OPEC’s action to slash output is, once again, helping U.S. businesses.
Chart of the Day: despite growing disapproval of opening the border and the rising reports of culture clashes, most Europeans remain welcoming to immigrants, according to a new chart from The Economist. It’s interesting since many anti-migrant parties are becoming immensely popular in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Austria. Here is the chart:
Illustration of the Day: how many times have we been told that taxes are what we pay for a civilized society? Since the inception of the income tax, this myth has been repeated multiple times. But was American society really so uncivilized prior to 1913?
Quote of the Day: should the Fresno university professor be fired for her controversial remarks about former First Lady Barbara Bush? If you support free speech, then you should support free speech for everything, even of that which you disagree with. Ben Shapiro endorses this point of view:
If we’re going to call for freedom of expression on public university campuses, Jarrar’s speech is protected. That doesn’t mean tenure should exist in the first place, or that if her teaching is compromised by her politics, that she’s immune to being fired — if she’s a crappy teacher, she should go for that reason. But dumping her over a nasty tweet about Barbara Bush is beyond the scope of the First Amendment.
Tweet of the Day: this week, former President Barack Obama penned an op-ed in Time magazine, championing the likes of David Hogg and other anti-gun students marching on Washington. Meanwhile, Obama completely ignored the likes of Kyle Kashuv and others supporting the Second Amendment. Kashuv brought this up on Twitter:
As a former president, @BarackObama, shouldn’t you be supportive of anyone executing their #1A and commend all the students from MSD (esp ones who lost loved ones) that are adding to the dialogue?
Why do you only recognize those who you agree with? Seems asinine and un-American https://t.co/IQq9reF2R0

Video of the Day: ugh. Former President George W. Bush was on the Fox Business Network to encourage everyone to remember the lessons of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. But what lessons need to be remembered? It’s simple, according to Bush: maintain the current foreign policy intervention. Though this is Fox, it is apparent that the media has fallen in love again with Bush because he opposes President Donald Trump.

Here in Texas we rule the oil market. In real terms gas is less now than it was in 1963 when it was .30 a gallon. Gas would be $4.50 because .30 could buy 15X what it could then. Think Trumps knows that or is it just for our consumption?
