Despite initially opposing President Donald Trump’s pick to be the next Secretary of State, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has confirmed that he will support Mike Pompeo. This is completely different from the grilling he gave Pompeo last week.
Here is what the senator is tweeting:
After calling continuously for weeks for Director Pompeo to support President Trump’s belief that the Iraq war was a mistake, and that it is time to leave Afghanistan, today I received confirmation the Director Pompeo agrees with @realDonaldTrump

President Trump believes that Iraq was a mistake, that regime change has destabilized the region, and that we must end our involvement with Afghanistan.

Having received assurances from President Trump and Director Pompeo that he agrees with the President on these important issues, I have decided to support his nomination to be our next Secretary of State.

What is Paul thinking?
He is getting duped if he thinks Pompeo thinks the Iraq War was a mistake and that he wants to exit Afghanistan.
The Tea Party favorite has done a lot of great things, whether it’s foreign policy or government spending, over the last 15 months to regain his credibility after squandering it to cozy with establishment Republicans. Why do anything that will erode that credibility?
This is further proof that he is not his father, the great Ron Paul.
