In 2016, then-Candidate Donald Trump promised that he would propose a constitutional amendment that would slap term limits on members of Congress. He believes that limiting a congressman or a senator’s term to three would end the failure and corruption of Washington.
On Monday, President Trump revealed that he met with bipartisan lawmakers to discuss term limits in order to drain the swamp.
He tweeted:
I recently had a terrific meeting with a bipartisan group of freshman lawmakers who feel very strongly in favor of Congressional term limits. I gave them my full support and endorsement for their efforts. #DrainTheSwamp

Term limits are generally a good idea and would end politicians spending their entire lives in public office. That said, it is the philosophy held by politicians that should be considered paramount.
Ron Paul served a dozen terms in Washington defending the constitution and fighting against the military-industrial complex. Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders and Chuck Schumer have spent much of their adulthood in government advocating for even more government to rule over the people.
No one would be angry if Dr. Paul continued serving today because you know what you’d get. On the other hand, people like Sanders and Schumer are only supporting and proposing policies that enhance dependence, take money from your pockets, and expand the power of the state.

I loved Ron Paul serving my district and never been more proud to cast a vote for anyone. I am running for Congress and I would have to be pretty arrogant to think out of 750K people I alone am the best and brightest for the job. I am out of who is running now but that’s not saying much! No one is more capable of running your life than you. If I serve a term or two and someone honest and better comes along I’ll endorse them and go back to teaching or tend my farm. That is how our founders wanted it.
