Believe it or not, but the 2020 U.S. presidential campaign is just around the corner.
The Democratic Party might have some names in Howard Schultz, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, and perhaps even Hillary Clinton. It remains to be seen if some Republicans will contest President Donald Trump.
But what about the third biggest political party in America?
The Libertarian Party is already having some names being floated around. And it isn’t looking great for a party that wants to be taken seriously, except for a couple of individuals.
Here are potential contenders that will fly the LP banner:
- John McAfee (colorful software millionaire).
- Cherie DeVille (porn star).
- Bill Weld (not even a libertarian).
- Adam Kokesh (a reasonable pick).
- Larry Sharpe (a Marine; also a reasonable pick).
The LP will likely have more names in the coming months, but it seems the party has been instituting some rules. For instance, the LP will not nominate a presidential candidate who hasn’t run first for a lesser office.
The LP brand took a hit with Gary Johnson and Bill Weld leading it in 2016. Let’s hope the party can get its act together.party

Met Larry Sharpe at the Texas LP convention. I am convinced he is setting himself up to run in 2020. He is as his name implies ‘sharp’. Very engaging, though provoking and thoughtful. Met Bill Weld as well, not so much.
