Potholes are a nuisance, but it is also stimulation for government workers. Since potholes need to be constantly filled in and repaired, civil servants have an endless stream of work. Meanwhile, the taxpayer foots the bill several times a year for the same pothole.
It looks like that may start to change, at least gradually, if one pizza behemoth has its way.
Domino’s announced that it will partner with four U.S. cities to fix their potholes. The towns will get repaired potholes and the pizza giant will receive advertising (logo and slogan).
“Have you ever hit a pothole and instantly cringed? We know that feeling is heightened when you’re bringing home a carryout order from your local Domino’s store. We don’t want to lose any great-tasting pizza to a pothole, ruining a wonderful meal,” said Russell Weiner, president of Domino’s USA. “Domino’s cares too much about its customers and pizza to let that happen.”
Domino’s is looking for 17 other cities to remedy their pothole crises.
KFC did the same thing a decade ago, offering between $3,000 and $5,000 to repair the potholes in five cities. KFC quickly shelved the idea after opposition from PETA, left-leaning media, and government workers.
Wait a minute…
Statists told me that only the government can build, own, and manage muh roads? What’s going on here?
