Not even the Germans want U.S. troops in their country. So why does President Donald Trump still bother?
According to a new YouGov poll, 42 percent of respondents said they supported American withdrawal of troops in Germany, compared to 37 percent who wanted them to stay. A significant 21 percent were undecided.
The results of the survey come as President Trump took control of this year’s NATO summit and began to slam every single member, complaining that the U.S. foots most of the NATO bill and is required to defend and protect Europe. His combative nature led NATO members to commit to raising defense spending, and perhaps leading more countries to look after their own region.
It’s unlikely that Trump will ever withdraw the U.S. from NATO, even though he should.
Considering that there is growing anti-NATO sentiments in North America and Europe, it is evident that NATO is a relic of the Cold War that should be disbanded. It doesn’t do anything except impose its will on Europe and provoke Russia.
It’s time to end NATO and finally support the peace process. Brussels is only threatening peace relations between the U.S. and Russia by having Washington support the takeover of Ukraine.
Like Britain leaving the European Union, so should the U.S. leave NATO.
mark says
Please Mr. president, get out of NATO , it’s a NWO organization meant for domination not global protection. It is a provocative organization, not and defensive organization. Why in the Sam hell did it mass weapons on Russia’s border? Would you let Russia mass troops on the US border? Does Cuban Crisis ring a bell?
