Just when you thought you wouldn’t see former New Mexico Governor Gary “What is Aleppo?” Johnson in politic anymore, he shows up and runs for the U.S. Senate.
According to Reason, Johnson is running for the U.S. Senate as a Libertarian representing New Mexico, adding his name to the Secretary of State’s list of candidates running in the 2018 general election.
This is a surprise because Johnson confirmed earlier this year that he was done with public office.
Johnson 2016 campaign manager and current head of a Johnson-supporting SuperPAC Ron Nielson told the website’s Matt Welch:
“It’s moving forward. He’s begun the process of filing,” he said.
“There’s a lot of interest in Gary. He had a broad sector of support from Libertarians and from interested parties nationwide, but in New Mexico he’s getting a lot of support from people. So we’re hoping that we can raise substantial sums, millions of dollars, here in the not-too-distant future.”
Johnson and his running mate, Bill Weld, are what’s wrong with the Libertarian Party (SEE: Libertarians for Gary Johnson? 5 reasons libertarians can’t support Johnson).

Gary Johnson received almost ten percent of the vote in New Mexico for president in the 2016 election, an indication of his popularity when he was governor, a good sign for his concepts in his campaign for the US Senate.
