The basic income guarantee is one of biggest scams being perpetrated on the planet right now.
First, the universal basic income (UBI) was devised as a measure to replace the entire welfare state and save the government money in the end. Then, it was promoted as a way to alleviate poverty in the age of automation. Now, it is being marketed as a human right because we apparently work too much.
Earlier this month, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced that he will not seek re-election next year. But before the former Obama White House Chief of staff finishes his disastrous work of the last eight years, Emanuel has launched a task force aimed at developing a basic income program for citizens.
Under the pilot project, Chicago will send out $500 checks to 1,000 families.
Although it has yet to be initiated, officials think it will be a success, says Chicago’s North Side Ald. Ameya Pawar who will head the task force.
“Chicago would be the largest city in the country to take this step,” he said. “I think the mayor sees this as a chance to lead the way as cities try to grapple with poverty and income inequality at a time the federal government is not addressing those things. This would be a legacy issue [for Emanuel].”
Not only has Emanuel sent the city deeper into debt, oversaw a city killing itself, and facilitated an environment of poverty, he now wants to send the deeper into debt, kill itself further, and produce poverty.
