Economist Nouriel Roubini sometimes provides insightful commentary on a lot of issues. Unfortunately, his latest remarks do not offer much other than pain on your forehead from smacking it with your palm too many times.
Lately, however, he has bought into the racial paranoia and the idea that centralized planning is necessary.
Over the weekend, when discussing cryptocurrency, Roubini, also known as Dr. Doom, tweeted that libertarians are fascist at the core.
Here is what he wrote:
Ideology of crypto is right wing white supremacist “black helicopters” paranoia & conspiracy about centralized evil governments, central banks, banks, jews, corporations, trusted institutions that need to be destroyed &replaced by libertarian decentralization. Fascist at core!

Yes many white supremacists are paranoid about any government & central authority (ie they are libertarian) while being racist, anti-semite, Nazi & fascist at the same time. Huh?
So, libertarianism, an ideology that embraces the non-aggression principle (NAP) and advocates the decentralization of power, is fascism. Interesting. You learn something new everyday.
Also, Ludwig von Mises, the champion of free markets who escaped fascists, supported fascism. Interesting.
In today’s world, fair is foul and foul is fair.
Five years after this short note appeared I think the evidence more clearly supports Roubini’s thesis. Libertarians like Ron Paul all in on Trump, and in like Flint on spreading conspiracy theories and outright lies about Covid, Bio-weapons labs in Ukraine, etc. Modus Operandi of Fascists: spreading lies and conspiracy theories. Joining ongoing insurrections, eg Jan. 6 and calls for “Secession”….
